Review of Costa do Sol Restaurant as published in Eat Streets. We started to worry
when the entrees arrived. Two huge plates, one piled high with streaming King prawns in
garlic the other a mountain of Surf clams in olive oil, garlic and lemon. How big
would our main course meat platter be? The question was soon answered when what
looked like half a cow was presented, the platter groaning under it's weight. It
turned out to be a mixed of grilled steak, pork chops, continental sausages and quail
served with salad and chips.
Needless to say we got about half way through it. A shame because it was plain,
wholesome and filling. That's the type of food this family-run restaurant specialises in,
and it's clearly a favorite with the local community. Eating here feels like
dropping into a friends place for dinner. The service is relaxed and for the decor
... what decor? apart from some colourful plates and posters of Portugal on the
walls it's pretty basic, plastic tablecloth-and-paper serviettes kind of place.
